Author Websites now includes simple email tools you can use to send updates, newsletters, and welcome emails to your subscribers.
Visit the Send Email section in your dashboard's left-hand nav to explore the tools. From this page, you can compose new emails and view details about past emails you've drafted or sent to your subscribers.
Who has access to send emails from Author Websites?
Any author with 10,000 or fewer mailing list contacts will be eligible to send emails from Author Websites.
Are there limits on how many emails I can send?
Author Websites subscribers can send up to 10,000 emails per month and trial users can send up to 1,000 emails per month.
You can see how many email deliveries you have remaining in the Send Email section of your dashboard. If your mailing list subscriber count exceeds your remaining monthly email deliveries, you will not be able to send an email until next month.

What is the sender address for these emails?
There are two options for the sender address:
- By default, emails are sent from a personalized Author Websites domain: author-name-no-reply@authorwebsitemessages.com.
- If you have a custom domain linked to your Author Websites account, you can enable your domain to be used as the sender address on the Send Email page: no-reply@yourdomainname.com
Your author name will appear as the email sender name in your subscribers’ inboxes. The email sender name and the default domain will use the Author Name from your website, which can be edited on your Author Bio page.

Can I customize the reply-to address for these emails?
Yes — the reply-to address will be the email you’ve listed under your account Contact Preferences, so your subscribers can send replies directly to you.
Can I import emails to my Author Websites mailing list?
Yes, you can add individual subscribers or import a list of email addresses. Navigate to your Mailing List and click "Manage Subscriber List":
On the Manage Subscriber List page, you'll see buttons to add subscribers one at a time or import multiple subscribers.
If you choose to import subscribers, you'll be prompted to upload a CSV file. We will provide a CSV template for you to download to ensure your subscribers' information is formatted correctly. Please follow the instructions on the import page, and contact our team if you have any questions.
How does Author Websites handle unsubscribes?
We automatically add unsubscribe links to the bottom of your emails and opt out any readers who click on those links. Unsubscribed readers will be removed from your Mailing List.
Do you support email marketing automations?
You can set up an automated Welcome Email to send to new subscribers. You can create or edit that email on your Send Email page. Please note that this email will be sent in addition to any emails you have in place to deliver reader magnets to new subscribers, whether you've set those up in Author Websites or through another email platform.
Can I view statistics for my emails?
Yes — you can view open and click rates, recipients, unsubscribes, bounce rates, and spam reports on your Send Email page. Any 'hard bounced' email addresses that are undeliverable will be automatically removed from your list, just like unsubscribes. Emails that are marked as 'soft bounces' will continue to receive your emails, since this state is often temporary. Newsletter stats typically update nightly at around 2:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
