Can I set up an email address with my domain?

Yes! In order to set up an email address with your domain, you will need to make an account with a separate email service provider (ESP). Author Websites is not an ESP.

When setting up your email address, you will need to add specific records to the DNS Records page in your Author Websites dashboard (please note that this page is only visible after you've connected a domain to your account). We've provided documentation below to walk you through the process with a few ESPs we've seen that are popular among authors, but you can choose whichever ESP best suits your needs.

Whichever service you choose to host your email, here are some general instructions on how to update DNS records for a custom email address:

  1. First, go to your ESP dashboard and find the MX, TXT/SPF, DKIM, or CNAME records provided by your email host.
  2. You may be prompted to verify your domain with your ESP. If Author Websites is your domain registrar and you are unsure how to proceed with your particular ESP, please contact us and let us know which ESP you are using.
  3. In a separate window, open the DNS Records page in your Author Websites dashboard.
  4. Copy the names and values for the records provided in your ESP’s dashboard and paste them into the appropriate fields on your Author Websites DNS page. It’s okay if there are fields left blank. Then, click save.
  5. It can take up to a few hours for the records to propagate. If the process isn’t complete after 24 hours, please reach out to our team at authorwebsites@bookbub.com so we can help.

If you need help with this process, please contact our support team and let us know which ESP you’re using and any error messages you’ve encountered. We’ll be happy to help walk you through the steps to get your email set up.
